Should Twitter watch out? Do they have a stalker? The answer is yes, a very BIG stalker whose name happens to be F to the A to the C to the E to the BOOK. That’s right, Facebook, still unhappy about its 200 million dollar denied offer to purchase the company a couple years ago, they have now just set their sites on copying all functionality and hoping Twitter is long forgotten.
True, they did just come out with a new application that allows Facebook pages to update a Twitter profile, but with Facebook Lite just coming out and now the new @mentions functionality, Twitter is going to have to try harder to be the influential technology it has proven to be over the past two years. (oh BTW, I just realized it is 9/11, I wish all the hurt families my condolences on this day of grieving)
Promotions, promotions and more promotions. How many can you have to help launch a new/old product? Not enough. Radio and TV ads were killed long ago when people stopped listening to FM stations and watching cable. Nowadays you have banner ads, facebook aps and the ever growing and more popular iphone apps. All of these are now considered a crucial part when creating a marketing campaign for your client.
Check out the new promo app for something this is supposedly dead (according to Jay Z)
Who cares that this has been overdone and is considered outdated? If I can sing a T-Pain song and sound like a pro with his auto tune technology I am perfectly fine with doing so. Now the next step would be able to use auto tune on ANY song besides T-Pain’s. Donna Summer anyone? I will rock the hell out of it. “I Love to love ya babyyy”
Amazon has made sure that the much anticipated ‘The Lost Symbol’ has been made secure by putting two locks on it, keeping it safe from internet pirates. Amazon has “agreed to keep our stockpile under 24-hour guard in its own chain-link enclosure, with two locks requiring two separate people for entry.” The release, one of the most anticipated releases of the year, is the third book in the series of Robert Langdon novels (’Angels & Demons’, ‘The Da Vinci Code’).
The online campaign for the book has been centered around a promotion where clues are given out on www.gather.com, and fans have to decipher the codes to win prizes (ex. a signed copy of ‘The Da Vinci Code’). The campaign incorporates Twitter and Facebook to spread the clues. There is also a widget, that enthusiastic readers can spread, that counts down to the time of the books release.
Below is the statement on the Amazon.com home page about the release.

Yesterday Gmail went down. Actually let me rephrase that. Yesterday, half of the industry went DOWN! Gmail is the third largest email client on the web and I never realized how much we all take advantage of such a well oiled machine until it has a glitch and out lives become absolutely futile. I mean, what is there to do if you can’t check e-mail? You are lost, you are confused, you are antsy and don’t know how to manage your time. (Scratch that, you did with Google Tasks, but that went down as well!)
I was at work yesterday and I literally counted all the different types of technologies I have on my desktop for communicating with others. The amount was kind of ludicrous. For starters, I have two Gmail accounts, one for the company I work at and the second for my personal email. Then as my Twitter client I have DestroyTwitter. For Aim I use Pidgin for work, Digsby for my personal account and also GChat. Those are my most basic, not counting facebook or linkedin or even MySpace.
Are we too connected? Do I really need to know when someone buys a new stapler or when a new startup company that will never take off gets a couple million from some investor? Probably not. Do I like to know about it though? Yes. Why is that? Anyway, my point is….wait, I’m getting hit up on GChat and I have some e-mails to read. Have to go. Are we too connected?
Announced today, the Walt Disney Co. plans to acquired Marvel Entertainment for $4 billion in cash and stock. This means that Disney will take ownership of the more than 5,000 Marvel characters including Spider Man, X-Men, and Iron Man.
The merger brings together two of the the largest brands in the entertainment world in animation, graphic novels, action film, and accessories. I won’t be surprised when I start seeing marvel rides, merchandising and costumed heroes at Disney World.
The Disney company board has approved the transaction where Disney will buy Marvel stock of $50 per share. The acquisition must now be approved by Marvel shareholders and pass the antitrust review by the Justice Department.
